Our services

The principal services of the company are two-fold. The first is the provision of responsive, professional radiation protection advice and consultancy services to industry, health service professionals, companies using radioactive materials, and X-ray sets. These concentrate on the legal requirements arising from the work and solving practical aspects to ensure doses are As Low As Reasonably Practicable. Our RPA services are delivered by a team of experienced and qualified consultants; the term RPA is strictly defined in law in that such persons must meet HSE criteria of competence and be holders of a certificate of competence.

The other main strength of the company is the ability to develop, organise and deliver a range of custom-designed, professional short courses. These include the well-established, successfully validated, industry-standard PIRSDG and DoT Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPS) courses. Other courses include Basic Users (Safe Radiation Working Practices), X-ray Set Researchers, Transport, Neutron Probe Users, Emergency Responders, Refresher and Radworker courses. The company is the recognised provider of courses for East Anglian Dental Practitioners meeting requirements in the IR(ME) 2000 Regulations. Our experience and reputation as a nationally recognised, on-site, specialist radiation training provider is second to none. We have developed and delivered traditional, distance and resource-based learning programmes from Plymouth to Thurso, from Lowestoft to Seascale.

We have particular strengths in local rule development, unsealed source work, emergency preparedness, instrumentation, including calibrations, source management, X-ray set critical examinations, dosimetry, laboratory research work, diagnostic imaging, dental radiography, veterinary work, neutron probes and waste management as well as the transport of RAM and port work in connection with X-ray scanners. Fluent French and German speakers are part of the team. A key aspect of our services is that we recognise our limitations. However, our wide range of contacts means that when we do not have the in-house expertise, we usually know someone who does and are happy to recommend further!
